At the beginning of this year, Hans and I bought our first family tent with the intentions of camping a couple times this year. Well Spring passed us, and summer too, the only thing the tent was used for was the Father/Son camp out. In Hans' defense I must say, that he was always willing to pick up and go find a camp ground, but I was the hesitant one. The thought of trekking tons of stuff and what not out to the middle of dirty nowhere didn't appeal to me.
Well Hans and I came to a great solution. We really wanted the kids to have a small camp out experience, well close to that, and I really wanted them to be close to a potty... Tonight we set up our tent in the back yard on the soft green grass. It is chilly outside but not to cold. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows over some Sterno and had a lot of fun! I opted to sleep in the house with Alex, and Hans agreed to sleep outside with the kids. (I consider this good practice for next year when we really do go camping away from home.)

How fun! I can't wait to have a couple kids to have a backyard sleepover! :) It reminds me of the days when sleeping on the tramp was cool! ha ha This is MUCH cooler!
What a great husband who was willing to sleep with the kids outside while you had the whole bed all to yourself! LOVE IT!!!
Im love the picture of the three of them in he tent. I feel bad for Hans. It had to be a miserable night. What a good dad!
That is my kind of camping trip!!! Audrey was a baby the last time we camped in a tent (It was horrible). It wasn't how I remembered it as a kid. Your kids are so cute. I love Holly's little hat.
HOW FUN!! I'm going to copy you. Maybe after halloween I'll set up a camp in the back yard. I've got to figure out how I'll sleep inside while Jason takes the outdoors shift. Hmmmmm... They all looked so cute. Can't wait to see you at Christmas!
How fun to camp in your backyard. That makes it a lot easier with cleanup.
I am so glad you found me through Jenny's blog. I am excited to keep up with everything going on. Your family is so cute!
