Watermelon, Goldfish, and tractor rides!

{This is the home we now live in. Some of you have
asked to see a picture. So here it is front and back.}

It has been so long since I blogged, I imagine most of you won't be looking anymore. But if you have happened to come across this little blog, I'm glad you visited.
We are officially settled in Albany, Ohio. It is green, buggy, wet, hilly, and at times feels like I am far from civilization. However we have had some really fun and new experiences since we've been out here. With three acres of lawn to mow, you can just guess that Hans invested in a riding lawn mower, and the kids Love it!!!!! He takes them for rides one by one and they patiently wait their turn for another.
We also picked our first giant watermelon out of our pre-planted garden, and it was so... not red inside; pink at best I would say. So it appears we have more to learn. Luckily we have more watermelons growing away and I imagine before the season ends we will learn the art of picking a ripe watermelon.
We went to the county fair on Friday, and had a load of fun. We saw plenty of livestock, and farmers... Lincoln and Holly both won a fish who they named Goldie and Jiggly. We bought a bowl and some food. It has been an interesting experience. RIP Jiggly and Goldie, it was a good 3 days.
Hans is moving into his new office, which secretly makes me jealous; it has a giant round window and a huge desk, and most appealing is the quiet location and lock on the door. I am really happy for him. He has worked to hard, he deserves it!
Lincoln starts school on Wednesday and I am really excited about that! The only interesting note about that is the small fact he will have to catch the bus at 7:20 am, and school will start at 7:45. Poor Lincoln is going to have a hard time adjusting to that schedule, and I don't think it helps that we have been out west most of the summer.
As I close up, I have to note that I would post gobs of fun pictures from over the summer, but I left our camera in Salt Lake. So maybe in a month or two. Sorry. I will post more exciting news soon I hope. Until then if you need any pointers on goldfish funerals, let us know. Lincoln had some particularly kind words he can share. Something about the great sewers of Heaven.

Oh Merilee, I already miss you so much! I am glad you are finally getting settled. Tell Lincoln and Holly I said sorry about the goldfish. Also make sure you bundle that kid up when he leaves at the crack of dawn for school. That is way too early. Especially for you! I would be a grouch everyday. The house looks darling. I still want to come for the 4th next yr. Also tell Hans congrats on the office. A quiet room with a big window and a lock sounds good to me too.

WOW! The house looks awesome! We are so happy for you guys. You'll have to post a picture of Hans in his office so we can see that excitement too. :) Sorry to hear you left your camera in Salt Lake. I am hoping someone is sending it your way? If not, let me know and I will make sure it happens! :)

Tell the kids I am also sorry for their loss. I love the name Jiggly. ha ha

We love you guys!

Your house is so cute, Merilee! It looks like something out of a magazine. As far as the fish are concerned...Zach's is getting ready to bite the dust any day now. Hey, why haven't you given me your email address. I tried twice, but I didn't get it. I have all your sisters though. Let me know, and I will add you. Good luck with the bugs and watermelon.

I seriously cracked up all post! From the GIANT lawn to the pink watermelon, to the untimely death (God rest their souls) of your poor young fish. Your house and yard are so charming. Yay for you! We miss you and wish you well. Cheers!
